Oxford interview dates for December 2026
Oxford interviews for 2027 entry take place online in early to mid-December 2026. Shortlisting letters or emails usually arrive between mid-November and early December, sometimes with only a week's notice, and every shortlisted candidate hears the outcome on 12 January 2027.

How many interviews will you have?
Usually more than one, and often with more than one college. In some subjects every interview is arranged in advance; in others you have initial interviews at your first college and may be invited to an additional interview at another college. Oxford says it offers around 20,000 online interviews to roughly 10,000 shortlisted candidates, out of more than 23,000 applications for about 3,300 places.
What to do as soon as you're invited
- Agree where you'll sit the interview. Oxford suggests school or home: a quiet space with reliable technology.
- Check your technology tier. Most subjects need only a computer with Teams. Some use a shared Miro whiteboard, and maths-heavy subjects also need a touchscreen and stylus. See Oxbridge online interviews.
- Accept each Teams invitation. You get a separate calendar invitation for each interview.
- Read the code of conduct. You agree not to record, share content, research pre-interview material or use AI or transcription tools.
- Start practising out loud. Oxford's top tip is to practise speaking about your subject and thinking aloud. See how to prepare for an Oxbridge interview.
A worked example: using the gap before your interview
Say you're a History applicant told on 1 December that your first interview is on 9 December. A strong week looks like this: reread your essay and personal statement (day 1), answer two of Oxford's published History questions out loud each day (days 2 to 6), read one unfamiliar passage of historical writing and talk about it for five minutes (days 3 to 6), then rest the day before. What a strong plan does: it practises speaking, not just reading.
AdmitMock is an AI mock interview app for Oxford, Cambridge, Imperial, UCL and US college alumni interviews: an AI interviewer asks the questions out loud, follows up, and shows you what to fix.
